FAQs

Where are you located?  Is your location secure?

We are just around the corner from Costco Corporate Headquarters in Issaquah. We are in a beautiful, 10,000 square foot facility on a fully gated, secure campus. Campers will be supervised by Camp Staff throughout their time at camp, and the gates can be closed to all traffic during outdoor activities. Every day, parents will need to sign-in and sign-out their child with the On-site Manager or supervising Staff member. In the event of an emergency, you may reach your child by calling the Karate West main number: 425-391-4444.

My child has never taken a martial arts class before. Will they have fun at this camp?

Absolutely! This camp is designed to be the perfect place for all kids ages 6-11. No martial arts experience necessary! Kids will love our cool martial arts workshops incorporated into our exciting summer camp. Your child will build confidence, strength and coordination, and learn how to stay safe, avoid a fight, and deal with bullies appropriately. In addition, our camp will include a variety of the coolest games and activities.

Can the daily Martial Arts segment of camp replace my child’s regular karate classes during the summer?

Although we will be featuring karate skills, drills, weapons, games, and board-breaking at camp, your child will still need to attend their regular karate class to learn their belt-level curriculum for our testing in the fall.

What is your late pick-up policy?

We allow a 15-minute “grace” period for late pick-up, after that time you will be charged $2 per minute for after care.

Should I plan to sign my child in and out every day at camp?

Yes! Please allow a few minutes at drop-off and pick-up to sign-in and sign-out on the clipboard with a member of our camp Staff. This is also the time to give our Staff any special pick-up instructions, make sure your child has their snack (AM campers) or lunch and two snacks (Full Day campers), and reusable water bottle.

Can you give me more details about your special Carnivals and the Award Show on Friday?

Our exciting Carnivals are held each Friday and include super fun inflatables, classic kid-favorite carnival games, and a variety of awesome activities led by our Camp Staff! Hot dog lunch and snow cones are included.  Both Full Day and Half Day campers are invited to join the festivities!

Half Day campers are to be picked up after the BBQ at 1pm on Fridays.

Full Day campers participate in an Award Show from 3:30pm to 4:00pm.  Parents are invited to this event.

What should my child wear/bring to camp?

Unlocked, personal storage cubbies will be provided for each camper. Please make sure to label your child’s belongings with first and last name.

  • A GREAT attitude!
  • Wearing their camp t-shirt (optional)
  • Morning campers: A LARGE healthy snack (non-perishable or in insulated container)
Full Day campers: A LARGE nutritious lunch and 2 LARGE healthy snacks (non-perishable or in insulated container)
  • Reusable water bottle clearly labeled with his/her full name
  • Clothing appropriate for both indoor and outdoor play (layers are great for cooler days)
  • Swim suit and towel
  • Sandals with a heel strap
  • Sunscreen—please apply at home and you may send extra for your child to apply (camp staff are not allowed to apply)

Is a camp t-shirt included with my camp registration?

Yes, one tee shirt is provided for every child (one shirt per camper). Campers will pick up their new tee shirt on their first day of camp. We encourage your child to wear their camp tee shirt daily, but it is not required.

What to leave at home?

  • Phones, electronics, toys
  • Candy
  • Money or anything of value
